Something Completed!

I finished this Thermal Stitch Spa Facecloth! Kim and I put together a small self-care type of gift bundle for a friend, S, who's going through a rough time. To go with the handmade facecloths, we included a candle, Artemis tea, and homemade soap. As part of the gift, we each made a cotton spa facecloth from Cascade Pima Cotton. I like the way it turned out, too. So soft!

Look at Me Go!

Haha, two entries in one day?!

I honestly don't know why it was so hard to spend five or ten minutes writing something, ANYTHING, on my blog! And that was the point of our ground rules.

Well, I gotta talk about our trip to Des Moines. Kim and I took a Best Friend day trip (matching outfits and all) to Des Moines, and it was super fun!

We hit a tasty lunch spot that had the tastiest salmon salad and a decent coffee menu.

Next we found a cute yarn shop, and it was exactly the way a yarn shop should be--filled with ladies sitting around knitting, free coffee and tea, and a cozy little fireplace area). Then we hit a funky little antique store called The Picker Knows, and we each found a few treasures.

I love my stained glass lantern I found there! The cool glass bowl I found worked well as a sticker bowl in the middle of the coffee table (thanks for the suggestion, Kim!), but Tubbins took it over pretty quickly. Turns out it's just the right size for a fuzzy ginger donut! Kim's coconut doll and bird clock were pretty bitchin', too.

Finally, we ended up at this kind of strange chicken farm for dinner, and my was that an interesting experience. The food was actually tasty I thought, but there was only one thing on the menu that you could get, which was the sampler plate. Hope you're in the mood for a little bit of everything they cooked! They also had some pretty interesting thoughts scribbled across their walls. Still thinking about some of these...

Goals...Hahaha

So, yeah, turns out I'm awful about doing the weekly entries. Argh!! The bright side is that I have still been keeping up with the knitting part of this blog project.

HowlCat is finished! I love how it turned out; these pictures have terrible lighting, but the inner part of the piece is a really pretty blue with pinks throughout it, and the top part is grey Madelinetosh with flecks of blue and other random colors. I love it so much!

Other notable knitting updates:
  • Danica entrelac scarf (Icy Flowers): On to ball #2 of the Noro. It's a fun portable knit with a pretty easy pattern to follow. I love doing a block here or a block there.
  • 93 hexagons completed for HexiLove afghan (almost 40 more to go?)
  • Face cloth for Sarah is halfway done and should be finished tonight! (Maybe face cloths are my new thing??)
